dward sea hare

What's a normal sea hare and what's a dwarf? There are about 50 species of sea hare with probably 10 or so of those showing up in the hobby at least occasionally. Their diets vary with species so whether or not it will eat hair algae depends one which one you're talking about. Generally though reef tanks aren't the best suited environments for them anyway.

Hi

Mike's comments are well taken. In this particular case, the common name is effectively useless.

Sorry. :(

leaffish75, were you looking at the ones from etropicals.com? They have them in stock again. I have ordered 4. They claim they eat caulerpa but i'm not so sure. Fortunately I have lots of varied algae at my disposal. These guys can get sucked right into the intakes of pumps and powerheads.

I received my shipment today. The "dwarf sea hares" I received seem to be Dolabrifera dolabrifera. They are about 1" in length. Two will be placed in a 55 gallon aquarium with lots of various algae growing and the other two are in a 15 gallon. They don't seem interested in Caulerpa or nori (dried Porphyra) so I will experiment with rocks covered with various kinds of algae.

Kevin
