Dwarf Seahorses And live rock

Ok I know that the two don't go together, but I have some live rock that I was killing I guess you could say because of a hair algea infestation. I left it out in the sun with no water for about 6 weeks, and it has turned compleatly white. My dwarf seahorses could use a little bit of aquascaping, and was wondering if it could be safely added to their tank. Would any hydroids have survived the sun bath? If so then I wont do it.

Since it is believed that hydroids can come from dry artemia cysts apparently drying isn't sufficient to kill them.
You could (and we have) soak the rock in a chlorox bath then soak in lots of dechlorinator - that should take care of the nasty little things and make the rock dwarf safe.

IMO Panacur the rock. Then never use it for anything but dwarfs. The med does linger in the rock and leach out for years affecting inverts, but will be fine with the dwarfs. JMO.

ok i like the clorox way as i dont have any pancure on hand. Ill try it

Just make sure you rinse it off very well afterward. Then leave in a container of fresh water to let the extra chlorine leach out of the rock. I'd do about three days worth of leeching with a 100% WC everyday. Just use tap water or sink water, nothing fancy.

A good dechlorinator afterwards would be great as well.
