Dwarf Seahorses and Pipefish

Is it possible to keep small pipe fish with dwarf seahorses? they bothe would eat the same BBS....

I suppose you could keep dwarf pipes, but they aren't readily available. You'd need to be careful...pipes would eat baby dwarfs. Just remember since pipes are related to seahorses, any diseases they may have or carry can/would be transfered to the dwarfs.

There are a lot of different kinds of pipefish.... do you know the name of the one you're interested in?

Some kinds of pipefish need much larger tanks than dwarves live in. Also temperature may be a problem. From what I recal, pipefish need cooler temps (correct me if I'm wrong...)

Some types may be okay.......

Doryrhamphus multiannulatus (many banded pipefish).... but I dont know that much about them. Another option may be Doryrhamphus excisus (blue stripd pipefish) they only get to be 2-3 inches. Again, I dont know much about them and they may be aggressive..... Just some species to look into if you're interested.

I would say no. Expert only on that. Don't know of an expert who would try though. JMO.

These blue striped pipefish stay small and eat the same thing as dwarf horses. I keep a pair of these in my reef and they spawn about once a month. They can find enough food on their own in a large old tank but I suppliment them with live new born baby brine every other day.
