dwarf SH tankmates

How well would 4 dwarf SH in a 35 gal wit a firefish and a true pec clown pair a bta and maybe a flame angel?? 2 k1s for flow only live rock no macro algae in the tank??

It may prove to be very difficult to keep 4 dwarfs well-fed in a tank that size; they must be fed live copepods or live baby brine shrimp. For dwarfs, it is actually better to keep them in a smaller tank.

I'm not sure, but it probably wouldn't even be a good idea to put them in a tank with those fish anyways.

Also, if you are referring to k1 as the hydor koralia 1 @ 400gph, then 2 of those for a total of 800 gph in a 35 gallon tank is a 22x turnover rate. Is that what you are referring to?

In general, seahorses like a 3-5x turnover, I'm not sure about H. zosterae though.

Ok I just went and checked the tankmates guide for seahorses from a reputable source and those tankmates would not be suitable. Here is the guide if you would like to check it out:

http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/tankmates/tankmates.shtml

Seahorses are slow and delicate, which means their suitable tankmates are limited. Dwarfs are even smaller so I would assume the tankmates list would be even more limited. This guide is for the average seahorse such as H. reidi, H. kuda, etc, etc

as mentioned, you'll never keep up the proper feeding density in a setup that large, esp w/only 4 zots. also, besides the clowns and the angel, 'nems (or anything else that has a sting) are not good SH tankmates.

it might do well for you to really research keeping zots, as they require different care than larger species SH, and you need to be super careful about adding anything that isn't "sterile" to the system, as the abundance of small live food items can result in hydroid blooms which can kill zots.

Thanks for all the feedback maybe I should get some adult seahorses or hold out on them. And yes I have the koralia 1s

Typically clowns cannot be, and are not recommended to be kept with seahorses of any size. They are too active and potentially aggressive.

A Tomato clown killed my yellow tang. The clown attacked the tang and injured its fin which disabled its ability to swim properly.

we have a 10 gallon tank with a divider making the back 1/4 a sump/place for a canister filter/filter to go without the worry of losing horses to over powered filters. Leaves about 5 or 6 gallons of tank space for them to live in. Cut the flow for few hours, let feed, turn back on and gtg for the day. We have a dwarf pipe fish in with ours. never try to put any horses mixed with fish. they compete for food. Horses are slow hunters. dwarfs do not hunt, more just nip at food as it passes. hope this helps a little.
