Dwarf whitetailed angel & Flame Angel

What are my chances of keeping Centropyge flavicauda (dwarf whitetailed angel) with a Flame Angel in a 180 litre (50g) cube?

I know the Whitetail is fairly plain, but i like the irridescent blue stripes.

Id go with this little guy, Centropyge flavicauda. Not seen too often, and has subtle beauty that makes it unique. Flames vary in their markings but are seen often. Not every day you can go to the LFS, and I'm in the NYC area, and find a C. flavicauda.

You might be fine, but that's the exception, not the rule. There was a nano recently (30G) that had two dwarf angels that were perfectly happy together.

add the same time at about 1-2" each and you will be fine. C. flavicauda is very passive in comparison to other dwarfs.

If you have enough rocks and caves for them I don't see any major issues plus changing the rockwork prior to intro should help. In the past I've added 3 flame angels to a 75g with established pygmy angel and that went fine. Last weekend I've added 2 colinis and 1 venustus to 6 establish flame angels in my current 180g and looks pretty well right now. They have their moments but its just 'get out of my area' thing and doesn't go on a chase.

I wouldn't recommend this for a tank less than 50g and be ready for a backup plan if the 2 doesn't work out.

Good luck!

I think your success has been from adding multiple angels or from from different genus. I keep various angels from different genus and have added successfully but adding one centropyge to a tank with an already established centropyge is risky to say the least. Particularly in a 50g. I still say the OP has only a 10% chance of this working out.

No argument there. Risk is always there when adding multiple angels and that's the reason I stated to have a backup plan. I've read that every angel is different, you shouldn't have multiple flame angels but after seeing Jaken's harem of FAs I tried with 3 in a 75g then moving to 6 in a 180g but I was always prepared to ttake some out when need to be. As a hobbist I like to try different things and report back with my own success or failures. Unfortunately as I was typing the previous reply (I'm slow when it comes to typing) you've already posted your second reply otherwise I would not have responded to this thrd because it looked more of addressing your stand on this issue. Once again my previous reply was not in any way addressing to your previous reply.

I never thought that for a minute:) I'm just commenting on some disastrous attempts I've had with multiple centropyges. You're one of the fortunate ones. Your tank is a bit special!
