dwyer rmb 52 trouble

i just bought a new rmb 52 airflow meter and im having trouble with it. when i use it to blow air into from say an airpump it works, but when i hook it up to my skimmer it doesnt, the ball goes from 0-10 and back down and back up, to blow into it i have to use the bottom hole, to suck i have to use the top hole right?

also, when i cover the opposite hole completely when i have it hooked up to my skimmer pump, the skimmer is still pulling air, which is why i believe this problem is occuring,

i have two 1/4 in barbs over both holes.

is there any adjustments with this thing or is just plug and play

its wierd, cuz when i blow into it, and cover the outlet, no air will pass, but when i suck through the outlet, and cover the inlet, air will leak through...

Did you use teflon tape on the barb fittings? you need to do that so that there is a good seal to get an accurate reading.
