Dying digitata!!!!

So my wife went to the beach the other day collected some rocks and shells with my son. The next day I'm looking through they and find a soft coral covered in limpets. It was out of water so I put in salt water and researched finding the closest pictures to be digitatas. Part of it was a blackish color when I found it and the area where the limpets were was black as well. I did surgery cut the black off with an exact knife and split apart to try to get the best chance of at least one piece surviving. Any advice on helping the little guy?

anybody???

anybody???

Please if anybody can help me. My tank is cycling and algae is blooming. I dont want this coral to die for no reason

If you have algae blooming in your newly setup tank the cycle should be complete. What are the water parameters you currently have?

Can you post a picture?

sounds crazy

sounds crazy

I dont know how to get the pics from my phone up here. And yes I wasn't sure what to list it under and yes my wife went to the beach in Portsmouth and came home with it. It was red. Nobody answered me now two pieces of it are completely black the other two are almost all white

If you go on google and search red digitata it looks exactly like those pics. Well it did. I'm actually planning to go back and see if I see any others.

I'm having a hard time wrapping myself around you finding this on the beach in NE USA.

Here is it's Origin: Fiji, Indonesia, Maricultured - Indonesia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu

But here are the quick stats on it from LA

QUICK STATS
Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Peaceful
Lighting: Moderate to High
Waterflow: Medium
Placement: Middle to Top
Water Conditions: 72-78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.023-1.025
Color Form: Green, Purple, Red, Tan
Supplements: Calcium, Strontium, Trace Elements
Origin: Fiji, Indonesia, Maricultured - Indonesia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu
Family: Acroporidae

I know I saw the origin I don't understand it. If someone can tell me how to put pics up from my phone I will show you I dont understand it either but it got there somehow

Reefvet, that is why I asked the OP to send me the pictures so we can get them posted for a positive ID. I don't see anyway that the digitata can be in the NE USA waters. But also like you said it wouldn't survive the colder waters.

Thank you for your help. Do you think it can survive 12 hours out of water? It seems like parts of it are still alive but about 80% of it turned black. Any advice?
