Dying frogspawn???

Well let me preface by stating my water parameters are not perfect.

Mainly my pH and Alk are off.

pH is high at a peak of 8.5 and a low of 8.2. (currently working on correcting that)

Alk is a little low at 7.0dKH. (Also working on that, but can't really dose too much kalk until pH problem is fixed).

Several days before I left town I accidentally dosed a little too much kalk (calcium and alk were fine), but the pH quickly spiked from 8.3 to 8.6.

Then I probably really messed up by dosing vinegar in a 1 minute period that knocked pH down to 8.4

But, frogspawn and my other corals looked fine (brain coral, 2 different types of zoas, tube coral that came on live rock).

Family emergency a few days later and I had to fly out. Things still looked good when I left. Left my sister in charge of the tank. Instructed her in great detail about what she had to do.

When I got back 4 days later the frogspawn looked very bad. (other corals still look fine). All shriveled up.

Really want some help, I'd like for its health to return and make sur this doesn't happen again. Ideas??

Doesn't appear to be any physical damage, and I'm puzzled why its the only coral not feeling well? Kinda sucks I was away and couldn't monitor it.

problem solved...

Frogspawn was starting to come back nicely. Took a peek at a few minutes ago and a gorilla crab was on top of it trying to yank out the feeders. Now it looks very unhappy again. I caught the crab and he is going to get what he deserves.....

P.S. the gorillas were hitchhikers. got as many off the rock as i saw, but apparently I missed a few

Didn't really care too much b/c they haven't been giving me any greif.. Now I am going to make it a mission to catch every last one..
