dying plate

Thanks for reading,

I recently saw a plate in a rubble tank and grabbed it hoping it would.cover in coraline and work as a frag base someday.

After getting it home I noticed it glowed quite well. I target fed it and the mouth opened and seemed to eat.

Any chance this is a sign of hope, or am I painfully watching a plate die in my tank and potentially harming it's coinhabitents?

Thanks !

have you tried dipping it yet with something like Revive or Lugols? Also keep feeding it and I would try to find a place where very low light is available until it's healed.

Sounds promising for sure. Yes needs to be dipped as all kinds of nasty critters hitchhike in on corals. You can dip it then do a rinse in water from your DT and then put it in. I would also agree with scooter to low light and low flow acclimate it to your tank. Then read up on what it prefers in light and flow and start moving it to that kind of place in your tank. Good Luck!

Remember to, dying plates typically spawn baby plates long after the plate has perished. Once dead, toss it in the corner and observe for a couple months.

If it eats..keep feeding. Give it moderate light and flow. I have rescued several plates myself, good conditions and feeding will work wonders. Hang in there.

Sorry all, I always forget to subscribe to these.

Unfortunately it started losing flesh so I took it out to avoid nitrates. Bummer :(
