Dying Ricordias

I have 6 Ricordias in my 24 gallon stock nano cube. All have been tearing up and shredding away. Its like someone in my tank is scratching them up. Can someone help me out with these? I have a peppermint shrimp in the tank but I don't think he is to blame? They are all Yuma Ricordias. thanks

Ricordeas will do that for unknown reasons. I think they just don't like young tanks. I put some nice yumas and floridas in my 90 a few months after setting it up and they melted like yours. A year later I noticed small fragments on them regrowing and getting quite large and colorful. Since they seemed to be growing back, I decided to try some more floridas and they are all doing great now in a variety of different lighting and current conditions. I have no idea why they are doing so well now, but I'm happy for it.

Well the nano cube has been up and running for 3 1/2 months now. All the ricordias are still attached to the live rock but they are all torn up.

A lime green florida ric was almost the first coral I added to my tank a few months after it was established and it always thrived and actually grew to 4-5" across. What livestock do you have in the tank? Have you tested your water lately?

Well ive got 1 baby blue tang, a false percula, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp. mainly soft corals and some lps. all of my rics have been getting torn up. Ive moved them all to my 40 gallon tank so well see what happens.

Same thing is happing to me right now.And mine have been in my tank for a year. What i foung was a bristle worm is in the rock and under one of the recordias.he is scratching/eating/irritating them to the poing of 3 are already gone off of my rock.
