dying royal grammas

lost my second r. gramma in a month this morning. this one lasted less than a week. was healthy (appearing) and eating fine for 3 -4 days then began the fairly rapid decline i experienced before. loss of appetite, slightly bulging and cloudy eye/s, and most noteably tail fin tight, not "fanned out". thought i might head this one off w/jumping on with the pima and melafix i had tried earlier, also a 25% water exchange. no such luck.

chemistry is all optimal with zeros for nh3, no2, no3. pH 8.2, s. grav. 1.022.

i purchased both from two different local shops.

my tank isa a 30 gal. ~ 50 lbs live rock, wet/dry filter, only been running 30 days. other inhabitants: 2" yellow tang (purch. same time as last r. gramma), 2" tomato clown in a nest of 3 bubble tip anenomes, and a sand/diamond goby ~ 3". all other fish look fine and are eating. cleaning crew for now is 5 turbos and 5-7 sm. blue leg hermits.

i did not think r. grammas were that sensitive. i'm also not sure at all what is the culprit. there are no visible white spots.

i'm thinking maybe i need to try UV, or just quit with the r. grammas?

i know my mela/pima fix trmt. is likely ineffective, but it is safe for the inverts..

suggestions?
