Birds in flight is not as easy as it looks it takes practice and just keep your Shutter Speed at or above 1000 and you will get better results, after you get it down then you can try slower speeds but I never go below 1/640th you will get blur in some area of the bird always from my experiences. Sea Gulls are a very good bird to practice on, always on the move and not that far away so if you have gulls in your area perfect for practicing BIF shooting.
