Early Spring Bloom

Z.X. wow, those images are excellent. I especially like the composition of your last one. What lens are you using?

MBZ- I agree with Reef Bass, that bee shot is cool. I find shooting insects to be far from easy- I think you did a good job with this one.

Thanks again for sharing people!

This is called a "beautyberry"

It would have turned out a lot better had I used a tripod but this was a 10 mile hike and I debated whether I even wanted to carry a camera. At the last minute I rolled my eyes and grabbed my old friend. The image could stand to see some tight cropping as well.

thanks- somehow i had the feeling you were using canon..

Titus-
mmmmm.. berrrrrrry....
I hope my critique is welcome.. If not please disregard...
for me, the angle coupled with the shallow dof kinda throws things off a tad. Cooling your color temp off may help too- (could just be my monitor which hasn't been calibrated in a while)

none the less, nice image- I like that you included the story too.

I often find excuses to not bring my cam along with me..
Your post was a good reminder to put those excuses away and to always be prepared. I always kick myself for missing some ephemeral landscape or macro subject.
Compared to what photographic pioneers and many contemporary photographers that are working in large format go through to capture and print an image- I think we have it pretty easy.

im not sure what images you are referring to Nick. was that directed at my shots?

keep in mind that not all of us take photos professionally.
rather than just passing some sweeping judgment- how about contributing some of your own images?
