Easiest Starfish

I'm looking for suggestions on types of starfish that are not terrible to keep in the tank. I understand that in general they are not easy, but I have heard some can be near impossible to keep. I'm looking for something in the middle. Something thats not brown, (would love some color)

Any suggestions are much appreciated...

Brittle stars, and their cousins the serpent stars are generally fairly easy to keep. You'll find they are available in bright colors, just stay away from the green serpent star.

Choclate chips are probably next as far as suitability goes, just keep in mind that their diets include some corals.

Then come the linkias which have terrible success rates.

Are the red serpent stars reef and fish safe?
Below is my list of current inhabitants let me know if there are any problems with them...

The tank is a future reef tank, right now it houses one 1" pajama cardinal, 1 1&1/4" bluegreen chromis, pair of black occelaris 1" and 1&1/4", 3 pepperment shrimp <1", and 2 cleaner shrimp <1".

I have a red Serpent star for over a year. He has been in two different tanks and been a model citizen. Only eats what I feed him and cleans up the dead!

Housed with firefish, several different sand gobies, clowns, cleaner shrimp, sexy shrimp, crabs, snails, peppermint shrimp, pistol shirmp, corals....etc,

I think you wold be fine in other words!

Look at reefscavengers.com...look under the collecters catch. theres a pack of them, and there in the pack is a bright orange. thats just 1 of the bright colors ive seen.
I have a red brittle star and i love him. If you were to get a star fish , go with the reefscavengers, shippings only 8$ . I order from them all the time. hope that helps

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but what's wrong the green serpent star? I got one in with my cleanup crew...now you've got me worried.
