hey everybody, i have a 20 gal tank sitting here alone and waiting for something to do with it... so i decided i was interested in breeding clown fish. what are the easiest clowns to breed and how would i go about doing it? thank you.
Well, I have three different pair breeding, Perc, Occellaris, and gold banded maroon. the Occ. spawned first. your problem is your going to need more than 1 20 gal tank. parents will eat babies once hatched.
I am just FULL of advice for you My first piece of advice is to fill in the location field of your profile, that really helps to get some attention around here. Next I would not use the 20 for a pair of clowns that may or may not ever breed, I'd get two pairs of ocellaris and put one each in the 55 and 125. And I wouldn't cheap out either, rather than trying to "form" pairs I'd appeal to my local reef club or lfs to try and get some mature proven breeders. I'd reserve the 20 for larvae/ growout. Best case scenario, get involved with your local club and find someone willing to give you the nests or larvae they get in their reef tank. Basicaly what I am saying is a single 20 is not gonna do it, you either need more tanks or you need to get the larvae from elsewhere.
