I have an Algae Free Magnet (Hammerhead) and I was really impressed with it a few years ago. But it got weaker and weaker. They are expensive too. And a MAJOR PIA to replace the pads on. OMG. That sucked.
I've been looking for something b/c those long handle Kent Marine Proscraper's don't work well either. In the mean time coralline algae was building up all over my glass really bad.
Glued this cheap plastic razor scraper to my magnet cleaner and... all 3 sides of glass were clean in 2-3 minutes. It came right off like butter. Just thought I'd share in case somebody else is looking for a good product... cheap. Drawbacks... blades can rust so you have to take it out of the water and rinse it off. You won't need it very often anyway. I think I'll take the razor off so I can keep my magnet in there for weekly cleaning. I had it in the closed position too, I think?, and the edge cut my finger a little. So be careful with razors. Otherwise and excellent product.
