Easy Pic Question

Hi All,

I am absolutely not a photographer. I'm actually very new at this reef hobby....only about 7 weeks in.

I had asked a question in the newbie section and was told I may get better results from here.

I have tried taking pic's of my tank and the inhabitants as well. Is this easily done just using the macro setting? Or, do you guys use underwater camera gear?

Thanks in advance for your help and time!

Hi and welcome to a great couple of hobbies :p
Aquarium photography is technically one of the most challenging types of photography-- the glass and the water and the contrasty lighting and the moving subjects... all of these factors add to the challenge. The suggestions we can make to you depend a lot on what camera you're using. As a starting point though, try reading a couple of these basic articles-- they'll help you understand how the camera works and then you'll be able to figure out for yourself what settings will work best for a particular shot. Also, posting a few samples will help us make some suggestions on how to improve.
