okay i got 2 ocelaris clowns and my original was 1 and a half inches. 5months later i added a 1 inch and i aclimated him. then while doing that i took my old clown and put him in a bucket. after aclimation i took the new clown and put him in the bucket. after 10 minutes i neted them together and left them in the net in the tank hanging from the top for 1minute. then i let them go. twithing started instantly indicating peace and mating.

hahaha no idea but b4 this attempt 2 other tries i did naturally by just adding went wrong and they died even when i added the 1st 2 together

im looking over at the tank now and ther using the bta. this tank has been setup for a few days and was a move from m6 36 to my 90 =p

It may work for bonding, but the twitching just is a submission movement like when dogs roll over and go stomach-up when there is a bigger dog around, showing submisison. It doesnt mean that they will be breeding anytime soon, and probably wont at 1.5 inches

well the bigger 1 is doing it and ther all buddy buddy in the bta. i dont expect breeding for a while and ik that but hey good sign for being told u cant add after 1 is already in the tank so says the LFS =p .

It mostly depends on which clown you already have. For example: maroon clowns.

If I am wrong, I am sure that SLAKKER will let everybody know.

Heh...funny you should mention it...

Maroons can be paired up after the fact...it's just quite a bit touchier and a lot more work :D

Also, IMO, this method may have worked out okay but seems to be placing an awful lot of stress on the fish.

You've lost two clowns already...if this one, god forbid, doesn't work out, it might be time to take a break for a while and examine your husbandry practices. Establish a quarantine procedure, it seems like a hassle, but will save you a lot of money in replacement fish in the long run, not to mention the obvious benefit of not killing a bunch of fish.

As always, best of luck with the new clown. I hope this one makes it, but if it doesn't, take a step back and slow things down for a while. It's been said a million times; only bad things happen quickly.

Occelaris are one of the more docile clownfish. They usually can be paired fairly easily. Maroons are a different story.

I purchased a whole setup from a friend a while back. The setup was distributed between my 120g and my 55g. It had a 2.5" Maroon that I could not find a home for. My 120 already has a bonded pair of GSM's. My 55g sole fish was a 1.25" Occelaris. Guess where the 2.5" GSM went? 5-7 weeks so far and no problems. I wouldn't call them bonded yet, but they do get along.

well mine are acting quite "couple" like and everything is well. both are eating and fine. the new one is still a little pale from shipment but thats ok.
