EB8 Module virtually popping up

Hi Everyone,

For the past week, My Apex system is showing signs of major concerns.

The first incident was when I was out of town last week(it always happens when you are away:spin2:), three EB8 Modules were virtually detected by the system and these were added.

The side affect on this is my heater Outlet was stuck on and brought the DT temp from 75 to 84. Even when I manually turn off the outlet via the web, it did not work. I had to ask my wife to physically pull the power plug on the heater. My skimmer pump Outlet was not continuous running as programmed. Luckily there was no deaths.

After some research here at RC, to temporary resolve the issues, I deleted the extra EB8. The system (outlet configuration) start working again.

The second incident was tonight while I was at home, I discovered another new EB8 got virtually created again. this causes my skimmer outlet to have no power (the Apex Status shows that the outlet is on).

Background info, I recently loaded the latest firmware and apply it to all other module. I'm not sure it is related.

Looking for your input on this problem.

Thank-you kindly
James

I think the problem is your current EB8 is not properly registered with the base module. Any time you lose power or have a reboot, it's getting re-registered as if it's a new module. Lose power 3 times - get 3 new modules. I don't know if the problem is the EB8 or the controller - they both play a part in the registration.

I'd email Neptune and see if Curt can get in and fix it.

Alan,

Thank-you for your input here. Since I purchased the Apex System back in Dec/2010. I read countless helpful post by you. We all appreciated it.

Now this problem, your assessment is sound, I do see power failures on the status page. The EB8_3 may have an internal problem...

Thank-you for your help. I will also email Curt on the problem...

Power Failed: Mar 12 2011 10:00:24
Power Restored: Mar 12 2011 10:22:26
Power OK: EB8_2 (0 Days 03:22 - 2.5 Amps)
Power Fail: EB8_3 (0 Days 07:23)
Power OK: EB8_5 (2 Days 08:14 - 0.0 Amps)
Power OK: EB8_6 (2 Days 08:11 - 2.2 Amps)

Shorter ones (30 - 40 sec) probably aren't power failures - more likely unit is rebooting for some reason. They report as the same thing. Could be firmware related if you're not current.

Alan,

Now it's making a lot sense. Before I left for my business travel, I was playing with my apex email. I had to restart the Apex System a few times (3x ??) due to the Apex Web Screen being unaccessible. Three days later, the Apex added 3 more EB8.

The incident tonight, I did have my CGFI tripped a few days ago. Hence the one extra EB8 added.

I assumed the root cause is still the "bad" registration between one of the EB8 and the controller/base and Curt can resolve that.

Thank-you for your help have a terrific night!
