anyone purchase any ebay RODI systems?? if so, are you pleased with it? how much did you pay? who did you buy it from?
.
.
i am looking for a system, but not sure who or what it is exactly i am looking for. maybe i can get some clarification from here. if it matters. i have a 90g reef. been running since 11/04.

I bought mine from "filterdirect" on ebay and love it. I forget exactly what I paid, but it was about $100. I had good results from him and would buy from him again.

Got mine from Filter Direct too. Paid $90.00 for a 6 stage RO/DI filter. It works great! Would definitely recommend them. You can also see by their feedback that a lot of people are satisfied with their products.

Got mine from an Ebay auction. It's a 6 stage, with storage tank, a faucet for drinking water and a faucet for aquarium water, and made by WaterGeneral Mfg. Co. I won the bid at ~$104+ shipping.
I works fine, but what I don't like about it is that it uses about 2g to make 1g of filtered water.

I purchased mine through an Ebay vendor too. At that time he was called AquaSafeCanada. Now I believe it's just AquaSafe. I bought a 6 stage RO/DI system with a 3g storage tank, a bar faucet and an extra case of filters (about 2.5 years worth). I paid something like $240. delivered. I needed tech support on it, and the owner was there, on the phone with me, until the problem was resolved. I'm very pleased with the product and the support. I will buy from them again.

A lot of them out there take 4 gallons of water to make 1 gallon filtered water.... Or at least that is what I seem to have stuck in my head.... I could be wrong.

Filter direct here...... Yeah, without a booster pump, 4:1 is a good number.

Temp of water and water preasure make a world of difference.

Got mine from the same vendor. I didn't buy any extra filters. It came out to $100 shipped. Instruction that came with it sucks - but I just looked at the picture and put it together. :D I would order from them again.

I'm planning on purchasing an RO/DI unit tonight from ebay. Here's a link to the unit I'm looking at.

However I'm confused about installation. There are three feed water devices to choose from. Either a 1/4 inch needle valve, a chrome 3/4 inch Tee with 1/4 inch ball valve, or two chrome 5/16 inch tee with 1/4 inch ball valve. My plan is to install this in line on the cold water for my washing machine. I know nothing about plumbing, which feed water device should I order? Also; if anyone has had a negative experience with this seller, please let me know.
Thanks for all your help everyone.

I used a garden hose connector except that mine is capped off. This allowed me to simply put a "Y" adapter on my washing machine outlet. This saves me from having to turn and turn to open and close the water to the ro/di, just a quick 1/4 turn on the adapter and its on or off.

Another happy filter direct buyer...

I followed carpetride's example, Y adapter with individual controls on the washer supply. But I did install the float valve for those "what's that trickling sound" moments.

thank you very much everyone. this has been very helpful. i think i will go with filterdirect. i also will purchase the extra filters and TDS meter.

Aquasafe here- I'm running mine with the faucet adapter. I couldn't be happier. The setup instructions kinda jump around a little, so you're constantly reviewing other sections of the directions, but they include some pretty good pictures and have great customer service.

I got this one and I like it alot. This is the only one I have ever had so I can't compare it to another model. I get around 3 gallons every hour

I got mine from aquasafe for $100 shipped. Like the others said, the product, price, and service are great, but the instructions suck.
