Ebay T5 with timer give me feedback

I have been in the hobby for quite sometime now. I have heard and seen it all. I dont really share my views I just read what people have to say. I am interested in what other people have tried. I purchased these T5's and I think I am going to keep updates on this thread to see if the "ebay" product is junk or if it is just a better buy.

I would like your opinions on what you think will happen, will it work ? catch fire ? be ok ? be amazing ?

Let me know what you think, I will post pics of my tank and fish and corals as I add them.

I think it will be fine for low light corals. The biggest problem I see is:

Highly polished reflector

These have a single flat reflector which will kill most output of T-5's, they need individual reflectors.

IMO
1. Maybe
2. Highly unlikly, but some have reported a fire problem.

4. This will depend on what your keeping FO?, and the tank size you are putting them over.

I had a light very simular (Purchased new) to this one it was a 48" 4 bulb made by Odyssea, and I had several issues with it. 1. No fan it ran hot. 2. Bulbs imo had bad color rendition. 3. After 3 weeks of running these lights I had alage problems. Never had that issue before using power compacts. 4. 6 weeks one of the ballast went out. 5. 8 weeks 2 of the led lights died.

So I guess we shall see I would be interested.

What do you consider amazing? Full blown sps tank with awesome colors and amazing growth or keeping low light mushrooms that you can't kill no matter what you try?

I don't know how a light that puts out less than half the light of quality t5 setups could ever be considered amazing. Both will use the same amount of power but the one will be extremely inefficient and bulbs will have to be replaced twice as often because of the lack of cooling.

Will it catch fire? I doubt it. Will you lose a ballast within a year? I'd bet so. Do the stock bulbs need to be replaced asap? You bet ya.

So.....ok and amazing are all in your perspective.

You do know good lights for that will cost more than the fixture itself ?
"Highly polished reflector" _ I get a kick out of that!
Looks like a sheet of Mylar behind the bulbs.
