I have a wild caught echinata that has no polyp extension except for the polyps on the under side or shadow part of the coral...all other acros fat polyp extension day and night..... Is this common for this species???? After the lights go out maybe 50% polyp extension but not like the other corals. PH-8.1 - 8.2, dkh was 8 now raising it the last couple days to 9.3, 0 nitrates and phosphates, calcium 500. Temp steady at 77 degrees night and day with maybe a 1 degree swing when halides burning. It is in the top 1/3 of the aquarium directly under a 400 watt Radium.... the metal halides are about 8" off the water...... I have 2 of them on a 75 plus 2 4 ft URI actinic white bulbs...... 13.2 watts per gallon. Any suggestions??? No RTN..... color medium blue to maybe dark powder blue. No Flatworms or red bugs from many inspections. I need advice from people who have this coral.

I have green echinata, when I first got it it had very little PE like you, although I think mine was aquacultured but either way, it took a while for it to show off its polyps. So just give it some time. But your calcium could be affecting it, NSW CA++ levels are 420ppm and you've got yours at 500ppm, so maybe it hasnt adjusted to the higher calcium in your tank. thats all i can think of.
