Just curious what peoples opinions are, do you think these are the same kind of echino or different. Also, if you already know the answer, please don't be a spoiler.

edit... i didnt answer the question....

I say different... the top one is 'fluffy' the bottom one is 'tighter' and shows those spikey protrusions, like an echinata...

I changed my mind... already...

Same...
the bottom is deflated more, and is showing the septa more through the tissue. The upper one, you can see is more inflated, and you can even see the septa where it receded a touch..

The only other thing I would like to know is does the bottom one show a green growing edge?

There is a little bit of a green edge on the second one as well, but no where near as pronounced as the first.

The same, although they look different in texture, I think it is because the second one is stressing and showing more of its' underlying skeleton.

Sorry guys, I was swamped yesterday.
They are the same.
I got the small piece as a LE yellow-eyed purple watermelon. As it started to grow I had another coral fall on top of it, which created a split in the skeleton, but no damage to the skin. I decided to go ahead and split the two, and put them in different spots. The darker piece lives about 6 inches off the bottom in the some rock work, and it’s about 80% shaded. The rounder piece, lies in the sand next to my other watermelon, and has a more vibrant mix of colors, and also a little bit better growth. This is after about 5 months of being separated, and I thought it was interesting how different the two were starting to look.
It also shows how two echino's in other people’s tanks can be vastly different. These are only 6 inches apart.
Anyhow, thank's to all that participated. This was fun.

I'd do a swap with your for a frag of you bazooka joe...

let me grow it out a little and you got yourself a deal!

Cool! thats a great little experiment with actual results we can use!
Nice job!

So are you going to move the darker one down and see how it recovers?

I haven't decided if I'll move it down or not just yet. It's really dyeing, just not thriving like the other piece. I'm going to probably move it into a little bit more light, and see if it gets a little happier. I'll update this again in the future, and we'll see how they are doing.
