Eclipse System 3

My eclipse System 3 has been up and running for about 3 weeks now. It has 4 pounds of live rock and a small cleanup crew. My question is are there any mods i can make to the current filtration system??? I see a lot of people saying that the "Bio-Balls" are bad, is this also true for the "Bio-WHeel" my system uses??? Also should i take out the filter ccartridge and use that area as a fuge???

Remove the biowheel. They're designed for freshwater tanks and are not so good for saltwater.

The filter area is too small for a fuge, just run the standard cartridge filter and replace it often. Keep up w/ water changes and you'll be fine.

yep...what he said or get rid of whe whole eclipse top and put a set of real lights on the tank with a HOB filter

ok got rid of the bio wheel, added some live rock rubble to the chamber that held the BIO-Wheel. When i testing the water this morning i noticed that the nitrate level was quite high, is this good/bad, what does it mean??? thanks for your help!!!

if it is nitrAtes then you need a water change pretty bad....if it is nitrItes then it will soon turn in to nitrates and then you will need a water change
