Eco Plus Skimmer

They look nice. I've never seen anyone use them.

So unless you want to be the guinea pig, then I'd look at one of the more reputable brands of skimmers (ASM, Deltec, ER, MRC, etc)

If I had the money to spare, I'd buy one. You could use it for a week or two and then resell it on the BST forum for $10 less than you paid.

Dont want to be the guinea pig! LOL! Does look good but I am more concerned about the pump that it comes with. I didn't really like the Sedra that came with my G3 in my last tank. IMO the pump makes all of the difference for NW skimmers. Some skimmers have better build quality than others but at the end of the day they're all bubbles in a cylinder. The bubbles could care less. I know they sell these things on ebay. If the Eco pump sucks then for 150.00 more it might be worth getting a Deltec AP600 or H&S A150-F2001.

I'm sure that the Eco pumps are in the same family as all the other China made pumps like Sedra. I agree with you, go with the German made pumps, you'll be much happier with the performance. PM Sent, check your PM inbox.

BTW, the Eco brand are made especially for Sunlight Supply, same company that distributes T5 Teklight, Maristar MH and ROiii Pendants.

Thanks for the heads up I have considered GEO's in the past. The only turn off is The Gen-X 4100 needlewheel runs at 70W. I live in Southern, CA. Makes the Deltec look like a good option although high initial cost.

The reason I had asked the question is I am looking to decide on a skimmer for my next tank (120G SPS). Came across those ECO skimmers but have read anything about them.

UcanDoIT - Your right Im done with Sedra's and Rio's..... too many problems. I had an Aquabee on a Turbofloater 6 years ago. That thing was bullet proof. Same story with Eheim's. Just from my experience.

I inquired about them about a month ago, cause I found them cheap on Ebay with free shipping. The only response I got was from a guy who said he has to put a gate valve on it and that it leaked from the skimmer cup, so it had to be run in sump... if that helps any in your decision.

IMO, most companies really make a decent skimmer body, but it's the energy efficient, strong & low heat transfer German pumps that really make it for the German skimmers. A major skimmer company has been trying for years to duplicate the German made skimmer, if they just go back to Eheim, they would have a great product. Another PM sent.
