I just read about eco system today from Coral Magazine. Is there anyone here ever use this system before? Basicly the tank without skimmer, filter or UV. Just with the big sump and fill with Mircle Mud, algae and LR, I think.
Can someone tell me more about this kind of system??

One more thing from what I read, the book said having the skimmer is the big reason that we have to dose calcium a lot more than we need to.

this stuff works great the down side is the cost $80 a bag and half has to be replaced every year...upside...great for pods and lowers nitrates

but from what I read in Coral magazine, they didn't said anything about having to replace the mud. The system that show in the magazine have been running for more than 4 years with out skimmer or filter, and they do water change about 30g for every 6-8 weeks. Bytheway the system is about 320g tank with 100g sump, if i'm not mistake.
thank you

I just throw away 1 bag of Micracle mud today , I rather go with Macro algea, DSB, and LR. find is useless . Just my 2 cents

This thread is about the people who doing the eco-system and I want to know pro and con of the system. Not the produck is good or bad, sorry guy

So is there anybody out there that doing this system, I mean the system without skimmer and filter.
thank you

I do have this setup. and it really works good i have since added a small skimmer and I turned my uv light off. I'm in mission viejo and work in irvine if you want to see it

Aquarium to the sea in tustin uses it on his tanks and they llok like crap but Obviously they are not taking care of their tanks.

I used it before and there is nothing special about it. I think you have to replace it at certain point.
