EcoTech mp10qdw

Yeah they are great. I have a sump to keep wires out of my tank so I don't want one for a powerhead. Plus they are variable flow

even better with two and with reeflink so you can have an easier time creating flow schedules. Although reeflink isnt necessary, just a nice feature.

I love mine, just upgraded lasted month. I was using an RW-4 previously which died unexpectedly after only 6 months. The RW-4 had a very narrow flow which led to a hotspot. Sand at the end of that hotspot was blown around but the farther away you got from that beam, the less flow there was. Any time a fish would swim past the powerhead, they would practically get thrown into the rockwork. The MP10QD has a very wide, tankwide flow pattern. Fish don't get shot against the rocks when they pass in front of it anymore and even on its highest setting in a BioCube 29, my Fiji Pink doesn't get blown around. Even when running at 50 - 60%, the pump kicks up detritus and uneaten food off the substrate and keeps it suspended so that it can be eaten or filtered out. Everything about this pump is durable and high quality, down to the wiring itself. I wasn't very happy about the price tag when I first bought it, I will admit, but it has definitely impressed me.

Love my EcoTech equipment.

Only downside to the Vortech is that it is not pointable. If you wanted to point it at the surface for agitation etc then this isnt the pump for you. If you have overflows and a sump that probably isnt a problem or a concern.
