Ecotech Vectra M1 controller

Hi.
Did anyone tried so far to connect another, smaller, DC return pump, to a n Ecotech Marine Vectra M1 controller?
I would really like to use one as it is, but unfortunately it's too big for my all-in-one Innovative Marine Fusion 30L tank. I already have a Vortech MP10WQD and a Reeflink.
On the other hand, Ecotech seems not to have any plans to release a S1 version any time soon.
Thanks
Cristi

Haven't done it, but its possible. IIRC the Vectra pump is a standard three-phase motor block and doesn't have a commutation sensor, though I'd have to check.

An M1 on a 30L tank... :)
Sounds like the perfect fit... :eek1:
Sell it and buy a proper pump..
Even the S1 would be VASTLY overkill..

Nothing wrong with the M1....just turn down the flow!
That's the wonder of the DC pump.

Now if you mean too large then place it externally mounted and plumb accordingly.

Not sure if the Vectras have a "low" limit.. (I thought I read 10% or roughly 200GPH which should be alright)

Its still like having a 1000HP Hemi on a golf cart :lolspin:

Depends how the tank is plumbed, too.
The output of the Vectra L1 that I have is 1.5" and I use the 1" blue collar that comes with it. My plumbing is 1" until it gets to my overflow where the built in plumbing is 3/4" and then exits into the tank via two loc-lines.
So my L1 running at 100% gives me just 650 gph, confirmed by my flow meter.

Like Dennis, I also have the L1 and while I don't have a flowmeter on it there is no way I am getting close to max wide open.

You should be able to turn down the flow to a level that will be fine for your tank.

How much head?
I'd expect considerable flow loss dropping 1.5" down to 3/4" and then loc-line restrictors on top of that..

The Innovative Marine Fusion Micro 30L is actually a 30 gallon tank, so around 113.5 litters...
Still, I would not use the Vectra M1 pump even at 10%...

I would use only the Vectra controller (if I would find one 2nd hand on ebay or so) and connect to it another smaller DC pump. Looking on youtube reviews, Ecotech like many other DC pump manufacturers, is using a standard 5 pin connector. This is how the idea came to my mind.
