Ecoxotic Panaroma Module ????

Alright, I am in the process of gathering the materials to re-do my Bio-Cube 8. I was originally planning to get the Panorama Pro Module in 12k/Blue.

But....

I have now found someone selling some of the original Panorama Module locally. They are the Panorama 12 Module 3-453nm Blue/ 9-6500K White versions. What I was wondering was are these comparable to the what I was originally looking at. I can't find a good lighting demo photo like they have for the Pro Modules on Ecoxotics site.

I was also interested to see opinions on if I should go for one of these or 2? I will be adding a all blue stunner as well to balance out some of the white.

Stick with the new module. Better light output and a lot thinner. The old module may not even fit in your hood. I am not sure though.

The white blue combo with a 445nm stunner would be my choice.

The new module is a better spectrum for coral at 12k with some blue. The optional reflector will double the light into the tank. The first generation is inferior to the 2nd generation and thats why theres a new model. I would go with the new one or even better the RGB model which is a 12k light that can change colors to red, green or blue by remote control. Also e-mailing ecoxotic with the dimensions and planned coral list will provide a good opinion.

I just got the Panorama Pro in 12k/RB combo, the spectrum is perfect and the light is very bright.

However, the RGB is not a good choice if you want any real growth. They are not nearly as powerful as the standard PRO modules that have set colors.

When you divide all the power up like they have to with RGB, the PAR is pretty low. It is great if you want to pick your colors but I own both and wouldn't spend the money on the RGB until the very end when I want to choose my exact color and the PAR is already there from other modules.

Ecoxotic confirmed all of this with me on the phone the other day. RGB = color tuning. Other modules = PAR.

Sorry to dig up a two month old thread but I'm looking for something to supplement my two ai sol blues. Do you think the blue/magenta pro strip might help? I think the stunner strips simply aren't strong enough to use with the ai's. Just trying to fill in the missing spectrum of the ai's.
I like the look a fiji purple t5 gives, but I can get led strips in my canopy much easier. Don't know if these units (19w) would also be overpowered by the ai's.
Anyone else have thoughts?

The Blue/magenta module would add some nice spectrum for you. They are pretty powerful and I think you would see them through the AIs.

Right now on my dusk/dawn, I am running 2 stunner strips (445nm blue and 403nm UV) along with one blue/magenta PRO module. It is too purple for me but it is pretty close to running an ATI Blue Plus and KZ Fiji Purple for dusk/dawn. Ecoxotic uses 8 blue and 4 magneta and I think it should be 9 blue to 3 magenta personally.

But, I am about to pull my LEDs off my tank. They have had their time and have not impressed me in the least. 10 months in, ZERO growth and worse colors than before. Back to metal halide I go. (I really wish ATI would make an 18" fixture in the T5 world. I would love going back to T5s.

Thanks Ryan. I came from a 4 bulb t5 setup to two AI Sol blues. I like the shimmer and the control functions, but the spectrum just isn't quite there. But with $1000 invested, I'm kinda stuck with the led's for a while. I may just try one of the blue/magenta pro modules and see how I like it.
If AI comes out with some warm or neutral white led's to fit the sol, maybe that would do the trick.

Ryan I'm surprised you have zero growth in 10 months. I have 25g cube running 3 blue eco, 2 white/blue eco and 2 blue/magenta pro eco. My zoas are multiplying, sps are growing, lps are doing great as well as my maxi clam.
I did for a while have wrong combination of lights and a lot of my corals bleached out (4 wh/blue and 3 blue). Why too much white light.

I have 3 panorama pros over my 25 gallon cube. The tank has been doing awesome. I only have softies and LPS so far but everything besides a couple zoas are growing very well. The color has also been nice.

I have 2 50/50 pros and 1 blue/magenta. I also have a blue stunner strip and a UV stunner.

I just purchased 3 panorama pro's and so far so good love them, I have a 29 biocube. I got 2 12k/445 blue and 1 445 blue. so far so good.

Me too.

I was convinced it was my water quality as I got a little lazy with the tank but I started testing again and everything was right in line. Check my signature for current test results. I even bought a little Hanna Phosphate checker to see if that was way off. I have been fighting hair algae but only on the sand. The algae stays on the sand so I suck it out when I change water. My phosphate reading came back at .05ppm, so really not that bad IMO. My Nitrates are low as well.

I was then convinced it must be lighting. My water quality and flow are great so that leaves me lighting as the issue. I keep reading about people who switch back to MH or T5 and growth explodes for them. So I bought a MH setup but haven't put it on the tank yet and don't know if I will anymore.

3 days ago I decided to up my photo period. I went VERY slow and cautious on acclimating everything and I honestly think it was my issue. I have 2 stunners and a blue/magenta PRO module on for 6 hours and my all white PRO module on for 2 hours now. I know that is a short photo period but when I originally added the white module I killed a few SPS over night and my LPS were all ****ed off at me. So I backed everything off and started over.

Since the added time, my corals are showing much different behavior over the past 3 days. They are all open and trying to feed at night which I haven't seen in a long time for some reason.

Maybe my issue is lighting but not LED related. I will continue to add time over the next week or so and see how everything does for me.
