Educational: Anyone ever killed aptasia with vinegar

My overflow seems to be a breeding ground for aptasia. Over 200 in there. I control in tank with peppermint shrimps. That works great for me.

Anyone ever drained the overflow by pulling out the pvc with return pump off(of course), then spray the aptasia directly with vinegar?

I just did it, ill let you know how it works. I also installed a strainer on the overflow PVC so I could pop a pepperment in there if that does not do the trick.

Anyone have experience with this? Fingers crossed

what i did was drain the water, scrap the inside of the overflow and left it clean.

Thought about doing that, but my canopy is too large to remove. Would be a mission with weight and led and fan wiring. So far, all the tentacles of the aptasia are gone. They must be really ****ed off

Mike, lemon juice will knock them out completely. you just have to wash the overflow out afterwards.

Confirmed. Hundreds dead.

Put 5% white vinegar in sprayer, then spray them. ( : All the remains are in the filter socks

I let them soak in the mist for 10 mins

Will squirt other overflow next water change.
