what eel combo's have people had sucess with long term?

currently i have a snowflake and zebra together, both about 12", and was wondering what other eels i could place with em in my 180 till its time for a tank upgrade.

of the common stuff, species like chainlinks, banded, and freshwater morays would work out in terms of temperament, diet, etc....I've kept G. tile with snowflakes on a couple of occasions and have never had aggression other than the usual during feeding when eels go nuts...I've kept a snowflake with banded for a brief time and never had issues either. I imagine the same can be said with most of the common Echidna morays

Most eels are not aggressive towards other eels, or even other fish for that matter. What you have to worry about is predation. An eel can and will eat another eel if the size difference is great enough. I've kept large fish eating eels together for several years now and have only had a couple problems. One was a large 2.5-3' African horned moray (M. melanotis) that tried to eat a jeweled moray (M. lentiginosa). I had to remove the lentig only because it would have ended up as melanotis food at some point or another.

The only real aggression problem I had came with a G. moringa. That thing was a monster. It constantly harassed the other eels, including the melanotis which was considerably bigger than the moringa. This ended with the moringa getting ripped nearly in half one night. There was no evidence of feeding.
