I picked up a small snowflake eel about a month ago it swam into the rocks and I never saw it again i figured it died or jumped into the overflow but today i saw it swimming around for about 5 mins looking good any ideas on how to get it to come out more

That's just how they are. Usually they don't swim out in the open unless they're hungry. At most, they'll peek out from the rocks then retreat.

Plus they can go a long time between meals, especially as they get older.

+1 - what do you feed? is it pellet, frozen, etc.? My skeletor didnt come out for a week and half and still only comes out when i throw some frozen pe mysis or scallop in the tank.

I feed flakes and a sheet of nori everyday and about 4 times a week I feed mixed frozen or homemade frozen
Also I don't even see it peeking out of the rocks I don't see it at all I do have a ton of lr but still

My Zebra stays posted up in the rocks, But always greets me when I come to the tank by poking his head out and saying hi.I agree food is going to be what gets it out and about.

feed it food, an eel isn't a herbivore. shrimp, krill, squid, something actually good for it.

I said I feed frozen food about 4-5 times a week I know eels don't eat nori and flakes but when I fed the tank today myisis and brine shrimp it came out and had some it also had some krill
