Eel Seizure

So last night my zebra eel had a seizure. He was shaking violently at one point his head rammed into the sand bed and his entire body started arching. I have never seen anything like this. Three days ago he ate normal and up until the seizure he was acting completely normal. He is still alive this morning but is breathing extremely heavy and hasnt moved from where he seized. I don't really think there is anything I can do but if so any ideas would be great he is my favorite fish and I am lost. Also any idea for specific causes as I can't imagine not having one in my tank and want to make sure I didn't do something. He is in my 120 gal reef tank all peaceful mates, all water parameters are in check and nothing else in the tank is having issues.

Maybe earlier but not directly before the seizure. I was standing there doing normal stuff in the tank and he was out but just staying on the sand. Then all of the sudden he started the seizure. What could have stung him though they have and incredible thick slime coat. I would think a sting would cause a burn or some irritation not a seizure but I am at a loss about this whole thing.
