They are very tricky to keep in aquariums. A very, very deep sand bed is required so they can make their burrows.

Ron,

Those are some good pictures. I really like that fist eel shot.

i have seen them in the Georgia aquarium, but never in someones home tank - if anyone has had them or still does now let me know please - i think they are really cool - i love pearly jawfish as well - they do the same thing with borrowing and moving up and down in there holes

Hey Ron...again great pics....I just got back from Maui and was able to snorkel but did not get to dive on this trip....Saw a few eels myself but none as curious as the one in your pictures...:)

Bet you had a great time... I love Maui....we stay at the Kaanapali Beach Resort when we go...right up close to Black Rock...Great snorkel area.... Can't wait to go back again....

I've heard that is a great place to snorkel...My brother is there right now....I think he is staying at the Sheraton??? We stayed at the Grand Wailea....If you get a chance....Visit the hotel....It is the NEATEST hotel....

Yes...I think I have been in that hotel...It is in the whalers villiage if I remember correctly....lots of interesting things there.... I love that coast of Maui...so beautiful...the water is so clear!!! Amazing...Now...look what I have done...I want to go right Now!!!! :)

I just got back last month and would return tomorrow if I didn't have a mortgage to pay...heheh...BTW did you see the news about the HUGE ferry they started using today to travel between Honolulu and Maui? I wonder how much more comfortable it is to go by boat versus those tiny island hopper planes....?
