Egg crate question

Im going to be starting a reef. I was wondering if Home Depot, or Orchard Supply sells egg crate. Thanks..

I know that my Home Depot does, and would suspect that most would. Just look near (( or in )) the lighting department.

99% of hardware store sells the white eggcrate. Always by the in ceiling 4' florescent lighting fixtures.

They usually call it grid light diffuser in the store. Only a few places call it egg-crate.

This is going to be the first time for me using egg crate for a reef tank. I plan on suspending all of my liverock and having a bare bottem. Thanks for the replies fellows..

I'm sure you'll find out as soon as you get it, but egg-crate is very brittle so you'll want to take that into consideration when you're stacking your rocks on it. It's a a great way to keep your rocks in place, but I have to admit I don't think I've seen anyone use it with a bare-bottom tank. More commonly I see people use starboard sheets (cutting board plastic sheets).

You might search around for "acrylic eggcrate" as it tends to be more algae resistant.

The "starboard" is HDPE cutting board material. I can't remember the site but when I ordered, I was able to specify specific dimensions and had it a few days later. As cheap, or cheaper than sand!

That said, I'm not BB anymore...
