egg crate

i have some fish that might be jumpers (fire fish, purple fire fish , midas blenny). i've been told to put egg crate on my tank (90 gallon with canopy open in back but closed on top and front and sides) wherd do i put the egg crate? lay it on top of tank under canopy (40 t5 lights), or some how cut it and nail it somehow to the back of canopy? any help would be appreciated.

First of all welcome to Reef Central!

You could do it either way frankly, but I'd put it on the open portion of the canopy so as not to restrict light into the tank itself.

You lay the egg crate down across the top of your tank with the narrow side up so that it focuses the light.

Well, firstly, welcome. You can put the eggcrate in either place. It would seem to be easier to put on top of the tank, maybe the back 8" or so, as long as you don't have any HOB stuff that it would be in the way of.

You can cut the eggcrate with a pair of wire cutters, or even break off the pieces with some needle nose pliers.
