Eggs not hatching

So my snowoynx had laid a nice clutch of eggs last Saturday evening. Starting last Friday morning I could see the silver eyes. I started that night by turning off pumps for over 2 hrs to try and collect the fry, none hatched. Saturday morning looked like some had hatched there were not as many silver eyes as the previous morning. So again I tried turning off pumps for over 2 hrs shined my light in corner of the tank and nothing again. And pretty much the same for Sunday night. This morning I can still ser a handful of eggs with silver eyes, everything else is gone. What is going on why aren't they hatching? Am I not leaving light off long enough? Are they not hatching and are they dying before they do hatch?

When it's hatch night, the room has to be totally dark in my experience, so if there's a night light of some sort in the room or lights bleeds into the room, they will not hatch until it is totally dark. In may case, lights went out at 9 p.m. Usually I would just wait 3 to 4 hours, took a look to see if there were any larvae swimming around, and if there were, I would leave a small led flashlight in a corner pointing down through the glass canopy for the larvae to gather there for about 15 minutes.

Yup just as posted above, it must be completely dark. I think what is happening in your case is that you are trying to watch them hatch with a flash light and that will only delay the process. Then when you get tired of watching and ho to bed some are hatching.

So I would do what Ernie said above. When the lights go put on hatch night turn off the pumps and everything in the room for a few hours and the check for babies. If nothing then turn on the pumps and try again the next night.
