I am having some major issues with this ehiem pump that came with this Korallin calcium reactor I pick up used. It is intermittently super noisey! I know the manual says that if there is air in the system it will be noisey, but there is no air in there (atleast I have purged the system plenty of times) and this is REALLY noisey. I took the pump out and inspected it and I am not sure if this thing has the stock impeller in there or what? It is pretty loose in there and the rod seems a little long. Anyway, when I plug it in with the cap open and the impeller exposed, I can see it is super eratic and bounces all over the place in the housing. I tried swapping out with some other impellers from random pumps laying around and right now I have a impeller from a rio800 in there and it seems to be doing the trick and is a little quieter. However it is still noisey and I see this as a temporary fix. Anybody have any ideas? do people swap out these impellers with some other better impeller? Could this be harmful to the pump to run a different impeller? no, right? And last, does anybody happen to have an old ehiem pump (I think its like a 1048 or something) laying around that they want to get rid of? Or any old impellers that they want to get rid of?
Thanks in advance!
