Eric, how secure is that ac in that window. I thought about adding one of those but my cousin does HVAC and he is going to add a slimline unit in there for me. Search for them on the waeb the are really cool. I was worried about security with the window ac.

Szwab, I built one of those power things for my chiller too. It works like a charm!

I looked at some of the slim units, but this unit had a few advantages. One, it was almost perfect for my window height. As this isn't the typical window (can't close to cover the gap), it was best for me to match the height of the AC unit to my window height. This helped me avoid fabricating something to close the rest of the gap. Two, most of the slim (height) units I saw were very deep instead. This one only sticks 5ish or so inches past the side of the house, so it's barely noticeable. I'll be putting a bush there to hid it further from view.

It's only 50ish pounds, supported on the front by the window frame, supported on the back by wooden blocks that rest on the outside windowsill. As for "physical safety", I'll be making a few internal changes to ensure it can't be physically kicked in easily, and I moved the security sensors from my window over to the unit so if it's moved the alarm will go off.
