ok so i cant figure this out.... i put my hand in the water recently and got a wicked electric current running threw my hand, i unplugged everything from my tank....still getting it. there is no, and i repeat no electricity running to my tank and i still get shocked, im thinking my tank inhabitants wouldnt be to happy about this either... any suggestions might save my tank?

Uhh... Do you have anything in your tank that creates electricity?
Maybe an electric stargazer or something?

Whats your tank on? What is the stand made of? Metal sides or plastic? Take your light off the tank totally? They keep some charge in the ballast capacitors sometimes.

Man, glad you're OK! But, that is seriously weird. Must be some kind of current getting to the tank. Remove everything electrical off the tank. Just be careful!

i figured it out, and will be calling my laweyer tommorow, i may have a case against radioshack. I just found a grounded extention cord which i had plugged into a surge protector that was melting!!! it wasnt wet or even near the tank. but it fixed the problem. most of my coral looks fine except my biggest( and most elegant) peice of kenya tree coral :-(. he is whiter and completely slowching i hope he survives this horrible ordeal

Oh, btw, your fishtank may have just saved your life/house.

Seems to me like it deserves a reward! :D

No kidding... Coralife power outlets also have had issues like this. Glad you found it before it was too late. Definitely post some pics.

Might have been melting because of what you had plugged into it, may be too much being drawn threw the extension cord. Its best to plug lighting into the outlets (i have a surge protector that is used) into the wall outlet, same goes as if you have a window air conditioner, they do not recommend using an extension cord for that, just plug it directly into the outlet.
