For various reasons (messiness, safety, wife's urging) I am looking at redoing my electrical setup. Right now it's 2 power strips in my stand connected to a GFCI protected outlet.
I don't have any room to work in within my stand and the tank is located in an alcove, so there is also no room on the sides or behind the tank. So, I was looking at making a partial canopy elevated above my tank which would include a boxed cabinet to house the electrical "stuff". Looking at using DJ switched power strips. Don't want to go full canopy route (fans, retrofit, etc.) but want to maintain my current lighting. So, in essence, the electrical cabinet would be elevated and span over my tank with the light fixture underneath.
Does anyone see a probelm with this, particularly from a safety standpoint? Has anyone done something similar? My intent would be to run the power cords up from behind the tank into the back of the "cabinet". Within the cabinet they would be connected directly to the DJ strip or to timers connected to the DJ strip. I have 8 cords (130 watt CF light, 2 LED moonlights, 20 watt CF refugium light, 300 watt heater, MAG 12 return, Euro CS6-1 skimmer pump, and 2 820 SEIOs).
Thanks
