electrical question

I can see thru you!
if i ran 3 -250 watt halide plus the 2 0r 4 atinics on a 72 long tank will i be able to run all necessary components (assuming no chiller) on a single 15 amp breaker or did you guys/gals ran an extra power source from your electrical box? i think if i add a chiller i would have to run another source, right?

also keep in mind that most electrical outlets in the houses are connected with others in a chain, so you need to figure out how many outlets are running on that particular circuit, you may have other items on the same circuit but on a diff outlets.

I know the amp pull for an IC 250mh is 2.35Amps and a IC 660vho is 4.4Amps so in theory you couls run al lights out of one single 15amp circuit as long as it is dedicated.

250w MH (assuming elec., mag would be 300w+)
250w MH
250w MH
320w actinic
320w actinic
200w main pump
150w skimmer
------------------
1740w

A 15w outlet is rated for 1875w max, and you're getting pretty close to that for steady state running (startup surge is higher but breakers will allow some excessive current for startup loads). I'm sure there are a few other pieces of equipment I'm not including. I think you'd be pushing it to try this on just 15A.

When I set up my 250g, I ran two extra 20A circuits to the tank. There's a bit of added safety is spreading your equipment across multiple circuits. Even if I trip a breaker, I would still have some flow and lighting provided by one of the other circuits.
