I use (3) dedicated 20a outlets for my 500G system. The Apex Controller's Power modules plug into these outlets. More than enough for 1300 watts of T5 lighting, Orca 250 skimmer with Baldor motor, a pair of Hammerhead Gold pumps, heaters, etc. Haven't tripped a breaker yet...
depends on how far the main panel is from the tanks, my 1350gl uses 48amps and since its 70ft from the service panel i can only use 10amps on a 20amp breaker

Wow, if you can only pull 10 amps on a 20 amp breaker without issue at 70 feet I'd love to know what size wire you used for the run. I'm not trying to flame, I'll delete the post if it seems like that, just curious. 70 feet is not very far at all considering the size of a lot of houses, you should be able to get 80 percent on a breaker safely if everything is sized correctly.
I'm not a large tank expert by far, but I do lurk/read a lot . The majority of the systems seem to run at least 3 dedicated circuits, 4 or 5 would probably be better. A 60 amp sub-panel would probably give you enough spaces to add as many circuits as you need. If you have 4 or so spare slots in your main panel you could use them. As Light said, 100 amp would be overkill. You will probably never pull 60 amps total current, you just need the slots for the breakers. (In my ooo so humble opinion).
if your having someone come in and do it for you i would go with the 100 amps.. it would be cheaper to have to much then to have to little and have to pay someone to come back out and add more... like said though you should be fine with 3 20 amps but what if you add more then what you plan on now.... go for the 100 amp and be done with it!
