I was wondering if anyone had any elegance coral they were looking at fragging...I am interested and wanted to give it a try...

They do frag them regularly in Australia. Many of the Aussie ones we receive are frags from much larger pieces as is evident on the sides of the base). The only ones I know of that do well are specimans from Australia so you may want to ask around and see if you can find one of those. There is a belief that the collection methods concerning the others (Jarkarta especially) may be the reason for almost complete failure in keeping them, as opposed to years ago when they were extremely hardy.

have you guys been able to frag them in house?

I have had an australian one that im 99% is actually from australia. Marcyes wholesalers know what they are doing. It is rare, but mine is exhibiting signs of what the indo ones experience. However it has been bouncing back as some do.

if it comes to full health I would feel comfortable experimenting with fragging it but its recovery is extremely extremely slow. I would forsee it, at its rate of recovery, fraggable in about a year.

I am even wondering if mine might have a gall crab living in it but I don't want to do damage to the coral looking really closely to find out so its a wait and see game.

The cost to import these from Australia is high so I'm guessing it would be like playing with fire but they are definitely fraggable. For the OP I would definitely look for an australian strain as every other one I have seen in person besides mine has been extremely healthy and a good candidate for fragging.
