Elegance Coral Help...

Hey Guys,
I have probably bought 4 pieces of Elegance in my life. Failed every time... Each time I tried it low on the sand with low flow... Every time, I got possibly 2-14 days of little extension, and the coral withers away... First few were with HQI and approx 40 Inches from the Light.... 220 Gallon Tank...

So I'm trying another one... My LFS claims this is Auusie... At the store he had it in a 2 Inch Wide PVC pipe, and it was open... The base is approx 2.5 Inches, and fully open maybe 5 to 6 Inches...

So I take it home... Acclimate it, and Use the same PVC at bottom of the tank... 3-4 Days later, it's barely opening...

I'm using LED lighting FYI... Coral at bottom of the tank is 40 Inches away from light. So Today I tried moving the piece up, and it opened much more... It's now about 24 Inches from the LED...

Here is a Video:

How does it look?? I can see the full pedestals finally, but the tents are still small and stubby... Any ideas....

Thx In Advance...

Steve

The problem is that in nature they live on sand. They like gentle current. I am not sure you can keep one in your situation.

I put mine 12 inches away from T5HO lighting in a crook in the rocks but it doesn't touch anything. You can take a look at it in my thread "elegance coral placement". And from what I can tell its not the lighting that is the problem. Unless its too strong.
