Elegance Coral Tissue Damage

Blue Ring Sting

Hi All

I just wanted to see who may know how to deal with tissue damage on an Elegance Coral.

I received a few Elegance last week and some of them have come in with tissue damage. With all corals I receive I place them in a container with a small wave maker and heater and add CoralRX and let the water move around for 10 or so minutes. Then remove the coral and rinse it off with fresh saltwater and then place it into the aquarium.

Since this has been done I have noticed some of my Elegance are loosing tissue, I am dipping them in Seachem Reef Dip everyday. The tissue is still peeling away from skeleton, although the tissue that is still attached to the skeleton is opening fully as an Elegances would.

Any one have any ideas or methods on how to stop tissue from dying?

Thanks.

Yeah got a 90cm tank with 1 wave maker, from experience I know that they don't like strong flow.

Neither, its from Vietnam.

Here are some pics of the 2 that is giving me the most problems and another of my healthy elegances. Dipping again today with not much improvement.

I would stop dipping honestly, it might be irritating it and stressing it further. If the flesh continues to peel away, you could try cutting it. I've cut my big Indo twice now (for fragging though) and I found the best way was to use a large, SHARP butcher knife, and make one quick, fluid cut through the polyp and skeleton in one swift move.

I've heard of closing the wound with a little super glue if needed (mine never did).
