the elegance that I tor loose from its base is fine except it has not attached itself back. my question is can I use super glue gel to place it back on its base so that it can attach itself and regrow.

I seriously doubt it, super glue doesn't adhere well to coral flesh. The coral will likely release slime around the glued area and "release" itself.
You might have better luck placing it in a low flow area and keeping a netting or something over it to keep it in place until it has a chance to attach itself.

Yep time will be the best healer in this case. Hopefully the algae will not infiltrate the affected area.
