EliWhitney314's 40 gallon build

I'm not sure where this thread should go, because my tank is not huge and I wouldn't consider it a nano. Oh well.

I have been in fish hobby for 6 years but I just started my first marine tank about 3 months ago. I have 80lbs of live rock and waiting for it to cycle before I can get fish, which I hope is soon.

looks good, but you are going to benefit having a skimmer and maybe a sump for all the equipment and mechanical filtration, are you planing in keeping coral? if so I'll like to know what type of lighting are you using .

I'm not even close to being done. haha

I am getting an octopus HOB skimmer next week. I will probably get a sump later on so I will need an overflow box. Right now I have 2 36 watt t-5s and 2 t-8s just for the heck of it. I plan on getting 6 or 8 t-5 bulbs, going to do 5 watts per gallon probably. I am going to do lps coral like hammer, frogspawn, zoas, torch, brain, etc. Maybe I will be able to do some sps but only if they will survive.

For fish I plan on doing 1 tailspot blenny, 1 green Mandarin (if I can find one that eats frozen food), 1 clown, and 1 six line wrasse.

Seems like your off to a good start. I like the open front area with more rockwork near the back. Plenty of room left to place corals there in the sand. Oh, what happened to your dogs tail? It looks like the end is missing. LOL

at 3 months? You might be ok with a frogspawn, if water seems stable. They're hardy. Caulerstra (sp?) candy cane coral is pretty tough too.
