out of about 100 pics those two were the best it's really hard to get a pic of this guy because he only comes out when I'm feeding and as I found out it is really hard to hold the tongs to feed him and try to take a picture. He has a very fast growth rate and I baught him as a marbled eel.
Take a look at Scott Michael's Reef Fishes volume 1. There is a good chapter on moray eels with lots of pics. If you can find your eel there will be good information on size, diet, temperament, etc.
My inclination is that it is a Goldentail, but another possibility is a juvenile Whitemouth Moray, Gymnothorax meleagris. The only thing that makes me doubt the Goldentail ID is the color of the eyes. I have not seen too many Goldentails, but I have never seen one with blue eyes...they all have the yellow eyes. The most common eye color with the Whitemouth is blue....
But the sure give away would be to determine whether the inside of the eel's mouth is white.
