Elos MINI with Liopropoma Species

I am planning to add a L. mowbrayi, L. swalesi, and L. carmaby to a 20 g Elos MINI.
Does anyone have experience with keeping these three fish together?

I also have a blood red shrimp that I would like to transfer to the new tank - will these small basslets eat a large ornamental shrimp such as the blood red shrimp?

Thank you.

I would not add two different Basslets in the Elos Mini. IMO, you will have aggression issues. Instead, I would go with a mated pair (like the L. Mowbrayi on Diver's Den). :)
In a larger tank, you could add two different Basslets, if they were added at the same time.

If not they will have other pairs, or different species. If I were you I would hold out for your favorite species. If you have the coin for those three why not save up a little more while the tank cycles and a pair of carmabi.

This newbie really appreciates the advice. I will definitely wait and decide which pair I can afford. As far as tankmates, what do you recommend on the exotic/unique side?

Thanks.

I wouldnt add much else in terms of fish so that they were out and about more. They are great little fish and I wouldnt want them hiding.

I keep my L. rubre with a pair of neon dottybacks, (Pseudochromis aldabraensis), and a pair of Centropyge argi.

But a sunburst anthias would be a cool fish with them or a geometric pygmy hawkfish or a pair of firefish maybe helfrichi ones.

Personally I would add a pair of L. carmabi. While I think that adding multiple Lios can work, the thought of having a pair of these wonderful fish would be a stunning sight in an Elos Mini. Megan has been considering adding another L. carmabi to her mini, and attempt to pair her current one.

They truly are stunning fish.

Also, if you add a pair and keep a low stress environment you may get to witness spawning behavior, which would be beyond awesome!

Michael,

You are a very very bad influence. You are the one who introduced me to the Liopropomas. I can tell you where part of the bonus I will be receiving next month will be going to.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice

I want to thank everyone again for all the excellent advice. I have decided to go with a pair of L. mowbrayi and a Helfrichi Firefish. As mush as I would like to add a pair of L. carmaby, I feel I am very new to the hobby to start with a pair of candy basslets.

When I saw the helfrichi firefish, I loved it - my only concern is impairing the ability of the L. mowbrayi to swim freely around if there is a third tankmate.

Keeping the blood red shrimp that I currently have would be great. Would that be too much?

You are fine, the firefish is soo passive. The shrimp should be fine also, your only problem is the lid. I would make a mesh lid for that tank or you could have some dry fish.
